The installation pictured the emerging context for the development of 10 Days Across The City proposed for Winchester city centre 28th October - 6th November 2011.

The work shown represented a broad range of projects and events that have involved collaboration between many creative people.


Several works celebrate and pay tribute to The Old Hyde Laundry, an industrial building in the heart of Winchester. The generosity of the recent owner of the Laundry has opened opportunities for many creative people and was the location of the first 10 days event.


People were invited from different creative practices and from the city's business community to make contributions to the installation as a commitment to the development of 10 Days Across the City.  Commitments of involvement in the project were received from:

Chris Carter, Russell Moreton, Nikki Harlow, and Mike Weller, of the Yard artists studios in Wharf Hill;

Stephen Cooper, Simon Morley, and Andrew Carnie who are local artists and teach at Winchester School of Art, Simon is currently working in Korea for the School;

John Marshall, Bang & Olufsen;

Alice Kettle, textile artist;

Dave Gibbons, freelance photographer and artist;

June Boyce-Tillman University of Winchester;

Belinda Mitchell, lecturer in Interior Design, University of Portsmouth;

Anna Cady, local artist and film maker

Kathy Oldridge, installation artist and filmmaker;

Hazel Boundy, artist;
Mark Barden, archeologist and City Space coordinator.
Sally Ingram, the director of the Pop Atelier gallery;


A tribute to the laundry from Brian Evan-Jones, poet and creative writing teacher;
